TUBING
VG Classic Frames supplies period-correct Harley-Davidson frame tubing for Knucklehead and Panhead frames from 1936 through 1957. Every tube is manufactured to exact original dimensions and wall thickness – the same tubing used in our own frame production in Hengelo, the Netherlands, available separately for restorers who need individual tubes to correct period specification.
The tubing range covers three distinct variants: the 7/8 inch backbone support tube specific to 1936-1937 Knucklehead frames, the 1 inch backbone support tube for late 1937 through early 1952 Big Twin frames, and the 1 inch backbone support tube for late 1952 through 1957 Big Twin frames. These are not interchangeable – wall thickness and dimensional specifications differ between production periods, and using the wrong tube will show in the finished build.
Tubing is one of those details that is easy to get wrong when sourcing from generic suppliers. Ours is manufactured to the specification we use in our own frames – which means you know exactly what you are getting.
If you are sourcing tubing alongside a complete frame build, our Knucklehead frames and Panhead frames are built to the same standard. Individual castings, sheet metal parts and machinery parts are also available separately.
